BIO

From the deepest, darkest corner of Exeter, Devon, comes eighteen year old Barney Page; a carpenter with fat fingers, bright ginger hair, an affection for orange clothing, a shocking amount of enthusiasm and energy, and a pisstake amount of control on a skateboard. Having spent his youth religiously sessioning Exeter's infamous wooden skatepark 'Flower Pots', a couple of years back Barney started leaving Devon, regularly making the pilgrimage north to the UK block mecca and roundabout capitol of the world, Milton Keynes, where he was spotted and quickly picked up by Rob Selley's Motive Skateboards. Under the watchful eye of Rob and the Motive crew, Barney managed to keep himself firmly on the down-low, though word of what he had been up to spread like wildfire across the UK skateboarding rumour mill. Serious 'Never Been Dones' at long standing legendary UK spots are few and far between, but somehow, during filming for Motives first DVD 'Dimensions', Barney was racking up between two and four a day on average, most of the time without breaking sweat. Terrain is also of little to no importance to young Mr Page; be it stairs, rails, road gaps, banks, ledges, transition or anything else you can think of, Barney has the ability to effortlessly hammer out trick after trick, each guaranteed to take less tries than you have fingers on your left hand.Last April, Barney randomly found himself in the Sole Tech van for the annual trip to the 'War of the Thistles' weekend long competition in Scotland when he was still a relatively unknown quantity. Five days later, when the time the van rolled back across the border into England, both Barney's comedy personality and solid skateboarding had made such an impression on everybody present that his place on the Etnies UK roster was concrete. With his first section, interview and cover all bagged up in less than six months of each other, it's reassuring to know that Barney is clearly only just getting warmed up. You might as well familiarise yourself with his skills by hunting out his 'Dimensions' section and appearance in the 2009 Etnies 'Big Push' edit, both of which are floating about online. That, plus the no doubt ridiculous amount of coverage he will rack up over the course of the year, should keep you tied over until the Sidewalk DVD drops in early 2011...
