In the late 80s and early 90s, hi-tops ruled skate footwear, offering essential ankle support and protection. However, pioneers in skateboarding soon realized that greater ankle mobility was crucial for trick progression. Cutting down hi-tops with scissors became the new trend, inspiring the creation of the Locut — a design that redefined skate footwear forever and becoming an icon in our culture. The Locut also introduced etnies’ iconic stylized ‘E’ logo that is still applied today. More than a shoe, the Locut is a timeless piece of skate history, proving that true icons never die.
