Scam Skate Shoe
The Scam came out at a moment when skate footwear was still figuring out what it was supposed to be. 1993, etnies drops this and sets a reference point, cupsole construction, mid-puff padded tongue and collar, layered suede upper with triple stitching in the wear zones that matter. The classic tread pattern on the outsole ended up in more skate videos and photos from that era than most people remember.
The reissue doesn't update anything. Molded TPR ollie guard, the same cupsole, the small rubber etnies heel logo, the '90s tread. It skates with that slightly chunkier, more protected feel that the cupsole was built to deliver, more impact absorption than a slim vulc, a profile that was considered clean then and still holds up now. Comes with extra laces and a retro shoebox.
Runs wide and true to size. If the Kingpin and Callicut sit on the chunkier end of the etnies lineup, the Scam is where that tradition started, before either of them existed.
